Bethel Church Halifax is a Spirit-filled church in Halifax, but people from all over and beyond call Bethel home. Founded in 2008 by a small group of people led by Art and Flora MacDonald, Bethel Halifax is a Catch the Fire Church.
Jake and Carolyn Murphy - Lead Pastors
Jake was saved in the Toronto revival in the 1990's, and the Murphys have been leaders in our broader family of churches since they married in 2007.
Jake carries an anointing for imparting vision and direction, while Carolyn has a gift for connection and community.
Together with their four children, the Murphys work with a team of fiery and seasoned leaders in Bethel Church to proclaim the Father's love for the Halifax region, and to glorify Jesus by responding to the presence of the Holy Spirit.
The Murphys love for people is obvious, even if their fashion sense is occasionally lacking.
Neil and Rebecca Trefry - Children's and Family Pastors
The Trefry family (Team Trefry) heard the Lord's voice for the very first time in 2018 and hungrily embraced Jesus, seeking to build the Kingdom, serve and love community.
Finally finding the love of Christ in adulthood, the Trefry's are passionate about sharing the Father's love and comfort with children, so they can embrace their true identity and give the world hope and live by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus gave Neil and Rebecca an anointing in ministering to children and families. They lead by example and bring a fresh perspective in discipling young believers and parents.
Homegrown right here in Nova Scotia, Neil and Rebecca have been married since 2010. Their daughter Elle, sitting on her Dad's shoulders worshipping at the age of 4 fell deeply in love with the Lord. Several years later, Elle is now a worship warrior, a girl with a servant heart and Holy Spirit filled.
The Trefry's home educate on the biblical foundation of Jesus Christ and invites Elle into ministry life with her parents and community. Team Trefry is truly a team who shares the same vision and all share a part in hearing the Lord for their life and ministry.

Keith was a school principal in England but pastored in Winnipeg until 2018. They were Catch the Fire pastors for five years until coming to Nova Scotia in 2018.
Pauline was a home maker and part time teacher in Christian schools in U.K. and Canada.
Keith has been involved in prophetic and intercessory ministry and teacher training since 1990s in Canada and nations around the world. They have been involved in missions since 1980s.
Michelle and Isaac Bennett - Head Youth Leaders
Isaac and Michelle have both loved the Lord from a young age. They dedicated their lives to His purposes and plans.
Isaac is a native Nova Scotian from the valley. Michelle felt the call of God at a young age to move to Nova Scotia from Kansas.
They met at Bethel in 2015 and married shortly after. They run their own excavation business and have two young boys.
They are very excited to lead the next generation toward God's love and have fun in the process.
Art and Flora MacDonald
From a young age Art felt the call of God on his life, born into a family of church planters who were saved in the Azusa Street Revival. He ran from the call for many years until 1978 when his wife Flora had a transforming experience with Jesus and from that time forward they followed the Lord with fervency.
Together they served and trained under the leadership of great ministries, but in 1994 again they were both powerfully impacted by the Father’s Love at the Toronto Renewal (TACF). Signs & wonders have been a notable mark of their ministry.
It was from that experience that Bethel Church was birthed in 2008 and has continued on in the spirit of renewal! Art & Flora have two married daughters and 5 grandchildren who truly are the love of their lives.
